Hey folks! Welcome to another episode of the Stop Scrolling, Start Sewing podcast. On today’s episode I’m talking about how I manage to find time to quilt with 3 small kids.
If you’re a nerd like me and love to highlight and take notes, you can head over here to read the transcript.
Life is crazy. Especially now, in this COVID life. I’m working from home, so is my husband. And I’m trying to homeschool my oldest while watching 2 toddlers, all at the same time. But I still make time to quilt. Just like I make time to record this podcast. I figure out how to make the time.
Self care is a huge buzzy thing in the mommyhood these days, and for good reason. Us moms are doing ALL. THE. THINGS. and often at the cost of our own sanity and mental well being. And the worst part is, we do it all from a place of love and giving. Like, where could the wrong be in that?! Begin the shame spiral.
Now self care can take many forms, it can be in the form of bubble baths, pedicures, or quiet time. But I’m gunna take it one further and say that real self care comes from cultivating a hobby. Hobby brings you a new skillset, it allows you to move closer to self actualization (Maslow, anyone?). It also provides you a sense of accomplishment and fuels your sense of self worth.
I truly believe that you should take time wherever you can to develop a hobby. Bonus points if it’s quilting.
