Announcing: Sampler Spree Slow Along
I am beyond excited to invite you to join me as I work through Susan Ache’s Sampler Spree book.
Susan Ache’s Sampler Spree is a phenomenal book published by Martingale. It’s available at most major retailers as well as in my online and Etsy stores. This book works through over 100 classic quilt blocks! By working through this book, you’ll learn and master MANY different quilting techniques. It’s like a fast track to learning ALL THE THINGS when it comes to quilting. For the price of just one paperback quilting book. Holy moly!
You may be wondering what a slow along is. Well, it’s just like a traditional sew along, but its slower. This book has over 100 different quilt blocks (plus a few alternatives) and they all go into the quilt. This ain’t the kind of project that’ll be done in 4 weeks.
But that’s ok! The blocks featured in this book feature a myriad of different techniques and styles that will help you learn and grow in your quilting journey. And I’ll be here along the way to help you get through your blocks week by week.
What Will I need?
So what will you need for to complete this quilt? Well first, you’ll need to purchase Susan Ache’s Sampler Spree quilt book. You can do that at your favorite local quilt shop or through this link: https://nicolegilbertquilts.com/product/samplerspree/
What about fabric? I think that’s the best part! This quilt can be completed entirely from your scraps. There are so many blocks and so many styles of blocks, that the more colors and prints you use the better! For my quilt, I intend to use whatever scraps are on top in my scrap bins when I start that particular block. You’ll notice in the book that the directions for the sashing is at the beginning, but I think that these fabrics are best chosen once you’re done with your 100 blocks. This way you’ll know what color you would really like to showcase.
In order for you to get your books with plenty of time, the first day of the slow along will be Monday September 12. Videos and blog posts will release each Monday. We will do 4 blocks each week.
How Do I Participate?
First of all, this sew along is 100% free to participate, though you will need the book for fabric requirements and cutting directions.
In order to receive the weekly prompts and directions please submit your email at the bottom of this blog post.
The first email you’ll receive will give instructions to join the private FB group. The FB group is really a great way for you to get a sense of community. This Facebook group is meant for sharing our progress and having a sense of community while we go through the book.
Videos will be posted on my YouTube channel and blog posts can be found on my website. But don’t worry, the weekly emails will have all the links you need!
When posting questions in the group, please use #ask to ensure that your questions don’t get lost in the shuffle.
Not interested in participating in a FB group or watching things on YouTube? That’s ok too! Just follow and use the hashtag #samplerspreeslowalong so we can all see how awesome you’re doing!
Again, thank you so much for being here and I can’t wait to get started!
